Recap of the Championships: 1%

Past period was marked by the world championships in multisports!

I get many questions lately how our athletes performed on the world championships, this is how…

With the Duatlon Long Distance (Zofingen – Switzerland) , 70.3 (Chattanooga – USA) and Ironman World championships (Hawaii-USA) these were the 3 signifcant race to be at!

Hans, Wim and Jan were racing in Zofingen, Bert in Chattanooga and Sam and Pierre in Hawaii!

Being qualified is already a big honour for the Ironmanlabel championships, you enter the race among the best of the best in your discipline and 1% can mean a lot during the race!

Our athletes are known as hard workers and performers. They usually celebrate hard after each race, because they are mostly on it!

In Zofingen our athletes took Gold (Hans -AG35 and first overall AG), silver (Jan – 2nd AG 35 and 3rd overall AG) and silver (Wim – AG 40). Zofingen and our athletes go back…a long time with multiple medals in the closet!

Hans and Jan on the podium together!

A week after in Chattanooga (70.3 WC), it was Bert who qualified. Bert did a perfect race on a hilly and tough racecours and took a very nice 5th (AG 40) place!

Bert, 2weeks after getting 2nd in Ironman Vichy and qualifying for Kona18…5th in the IM70.3 World champs

In Kona (Hawaii), now 3 weeks ago adrenaline was in our entire body…

Sam did a perfect race, then got a penalty put down the fastest bikesplit in his AG (despite the penalty) and kept fighting with the athletes who would mount the podium, to finally finish 7th. Pierre from his side, finished in his 2nd race in Hawaii in 10h35′, which is respectable in this tough race!

3IM races for Sam this year, 2nd AG (Continental champs Africa), 1st AG (Ironman Lake Placid – USA) and 7th AG in Kona!

So, if people still ask. If we are happy with these results? Yes! Very. There was almost nothing more possible. Except maybe…for that 1%. That 1% is what we are looking for now and in the future. Nobody’s perfect, but you can try to reach for perfection…you might come close to it!

Ciao
