Victory for Daniel in Greece!

The only way is up” that’s what our Roumanian pro-cyclist Daniel thought today!
Early in the race in the good group and a solo attempt on the last climb made him ride a fantastic race today!!
After his solo he wins his race in Greece today and leads the general classification with more than 1′!
This was his first race of the season, spoken about an entrance!
As you can see, even in tough weather conditions athletes can train smart and perform better, a lot of clothes or turbosessions…there’s always a way…find it!

🇧🇪️In Belgium Guillaume rode a good rade in Gages and takes 6th in te end. Not lucky today to miss the right breakaway and being forced in a long day of pursuit.Very strong way of racing of Guillaume these days and slowly but surely growing to a topshape. Guillaume his made is set on qualifying for the UCI GranFondo world championships now.

More east in Jeneffe-en-Condroz it was Svenne who did get in that right breakaway. Still missing a few % after his crash, he was forced to let go the train and found himself also in a group chasing the 2 leaders on this tough racecourse. Going to the finishline Svenne takes 8th today!

Guillaume

Our cyclists are definitely not playing poker, they throw their cards on the table and race at full strength!
But how would it be with our Ironman athletes these days. A very important training period now for most of them, in particular for the guys/women who race the early IM races in South Africa, Texas (USA) and Lanzarote (Spain)!
A few of them are having a very specific weekend, others are starting training camp tomorrow and then we had the athletes racing the North C-trail!
Nothing than good feeling and results with nice results for for example Bert on place 8 in this 21K trailrun! Matthieu (heading to IM SA) just outside top 20!

Our athletes on fire…

Magic May, that’s how we baptised this month…because of immediate wins on the first day of that month! But we’ll have to adapt this…to Magic 17 if things roll the way they roll right now! On this page a quick overview of the metal our athletes earned so far this season!

The weekend started with splendid results of Adrian in 70.3 Mallorca,  we knew from his last tests his shape was well, his shape was good. If nothing went wrong…he couldn’t be bad at all…

The most steady race in his young career so far ended up super well!

His swim was fast, his bikecourse he was powerfull and he came off the bike run well!

adrianswim

‘You run 3’50-4’00 pace’ we said before the race…he did and ran a regular 3’54/km after the tough bikecourse. In the end he realises 2nd place in his AG and 29th overall (pro field included).

AdrianRun.jpg

Keep an eye on your pulse AND pace, it can prevent u from exploding at the end of the race!

It’s great to see an athlete evolving from a non-finisher ending up in the ambulance to a podiumdancer on the Ironmancircuit! Some people thought his 5th overall place in IM 70.3 Turkey was a coincidence…he prooves it’s not…at all!

Adrian.jpg

Definitely an earned finger in the air finishing 2nd

Great determination and motivation in the head of this athlete, but that’s a must have for our athletes!

Sophie/raph went to L’eau d’Heure for winning the Amphiman swimrun. A big test with in total 38K running and swimming. The water only measured 12-13°C…cold!

sophie raph.jpg

For both this was a big test towards the World Championships in Sweden where they will have to conquer >60km of swimming, trailing and running!

They did great and with a 10′ advantage on the 2nd team together they could put this victory in their pocket!

Sophie Raph2.jpg

Tough racing on this hilly and cold race course! Together they PULL eachother to their limits!

But these big races weren’t all this weekend. Our athletes managed to get in the front of the field of several races!

In Tournai (UCI 1.12C)Guillaume finishes 4th behind 2 French Professional riders who joined him in the breakaway…’total loss’ behind the race, so he did give it all!

Guillaume.jpg

Guillaume hidden in the leading group finishes first in Tournai (Belgium)

In Triathlons in Geel and Bilzen our athletes did very good races leading up to the bigger goals! In Geel it was Tony who got himself in the top 10, topping off his race with a 3’32/km 10K run!

Uitslag Geel.jpg

Tony after his chase on the front of the field ends up 9th overall!

TonyBike.jpg

Tony is only swimming for 2years at the moment, so he MUST try to come back on the bike. With a 320NP he came off the bike in touch of the top 10 and his 10K at 3’32/km avg brought him to 9th!

But not only in belgium triathlon was on, in France (Choisy-Au-Bac) the first half triathlon of the season for a few of our athletes was planned! The perfect way to begin your season…Despite cold water to swim in and rain during the bikecourse! Arne, Michael, Toon and Hannah did great…with in the end an AG podium for Hannah!

Hannah

Arne starting the run with cold muscles after a 13degrees swim and rain on the cyclingpart!

And what if our long distance triathletes start running their PB’s in 10K races just before the season…in Fredericton (Can) Corey runs his PB and takes 3rd overall! Our athletes are on fire!

Corey.jpg

Corey running his fastest 10K split ever in Fredericton!

We couldn’t dream it better than how things are happening!

The output of working hard, working smart…but make sure the input is the right input 😉

Guillaume grabs the win in Couvin – GP du Fond de l’eau, the resurrection of a cyclist on easter!

How can you celebrate easter by not eating too much chocolate?
Well, by winning a race…in Couvin (Belgium) GP du fond de l’eau UCI 1.18 was held today. A cyclingrace for climbers with a +10% climb each lap. Food for Svenne, food for Guillaume!
These types of races are difficult to approach, being in the front all the time and not letting get away strong riders…every breakaway can be the right one. So what was said to both riders was easy “Ride with an offensive mind and try to have a tiny bit left for the last 15K to give it your all”. Those words came out easy, but our cyclists played the game perfectly!

Guillaume takes his first win in years after avery offensive race in which he made the right breakaway and could manage to finish…solo!! Great victory of one of our young riders!
Svenne found himself in a difficult situation and tried to pull his cards out. After a good race he finishes 5th on a race course which pleased him a lot! Svenne is having a good leg – period and that’s seen by his colleagues of course.

guillaume

Guillaume with a 20″ gap on the chasing group behind him!

In Arden Challenge stage 4 Anthony still is among the better riders in the peloton. Tomorrow the last and maybe toughest stage is planned, let’s see if Anthony still has some fire left in his legs!

Mouscron is the yearly season opener of the French speaking Belgian triathlon league, Mouscron had some of our athletes at the starting line and they did well! Everybody could look back happy to this warming-up race!

Amato.jpg

Raphael opens 2017 with a 4th spot in Mouscron behind Baelde – Béthencourt and Dillies

In the front of the field it were Raphael and… Alex, who picked up a serious boost in his performance level past year and closed the gap with to best athletes.
Raphael had a difficult period in January, but despite that period, he could pick up a good level from then till today and finish 4th, Alex was the 2nd best swimmer in the pack and finished 8th! Our other athletes finished just a little further in this sprint triathlon with 260 participants.

Raph watts

In Mouscron our athletes got a nice bikecourse from the easterbunny, Raph pushed out a very consistent bike to finish off with a fast run!

Not only Mouscron was racelocation, Nico had the opportunity to challenge some world class athletes as Kienle, Raelert, Diemunsch,…in the Cannes triathlon (France). Nico had a 6′ faster swim than last year and moved up 130spots on the bike and run course which made him finish satisfied in his season-opener!

Uitslag Cannes

Maybe the best densified half triathlon in Europe during spring….triathlon Cannes (Fr) with a very high level of athletes racing it! Nico was part of it!

Yesterday it was in Holland the easter bunny came too early!

Hans rode a very good first Individual Time Trial of the season, finishing 3rd (same time as 2nd place) behind Dutch Grasman and German

Ciao
