We continue our roundup of this month’s world championships, after the athletes racing the Duathlon world championships now it’s time for the Ironman70.3 World championships in Chattanooga, USA

Bert Verbeke (AG 40-44):

• 2016 European AG champion 70.3 – stunning season behind him – 2nd overall Ironman Vichy 2017
• Strength: Swims with the best and is capable of cycling hard without smashing the legs. Showed strong running performances off the bike this season which lead him to 2nd place in Vichy.
• Weakness: Ironman Vichy was only 2 weeks ago, how will he feel racing 2weeks after the Ironman and after a long trip.
• Remarkable facts: In Challenge Poznan (Poland) he was in 2nd position, moving up to 1st…when he was sent in the wrong direction on the racecourse. He took his revenge later this season.
