Note: My intention of this post is to not explain the science behind lactate testing, or explain my results. I want to help bring awareness that these tests are available in Nova Scotia. (bike and run).
I started working with Coach Jesse Van Nieuwenhuyse in September, 2015. In our initial conversations, he mentioned a blood lactate test is often the best way to effectively set up training zones. It also provides information on what type of athlete you are. Are you better at endurance, or shorter events with more intensity? A lactate test can provide answers, and help focus your training on strengths and weaknesses.
After some research, I discovered that the Kinesic Sport Lab in Halifax performs these tests. The test was performed by Jeffery Zahavich. (MSc KinesiologyCSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist).
