Canadian professional triathlete and Reynolds-sponsored rider Brooke Brown started her tri season at the end of May in Europe with a perfect record. Brown took on two races back to back, finishing first in both.
Defending her title at the third annual Ironmedoc in Hourtin, France, Brown beat her personal best and set the race record, clocking 9:26:54, despite battling sickness and low energy levels in the months leading up to the race.
Brown told Triathlon Magazine Canada, “Unexpectedly, without much preparation, I raced a personal best and beat my previous course record by over 10 minutes…Some days it pays off to challenge the space between your ears, and just attempt something outside of your comfort zone.”
The weekend following Ironmedoc, she competed in Triathlon Deauville on the Normandy Coast in France on a course that climbed 1300 m. Brown won the women’s half iron distance riding Reynolds’ 46 and 72 AERO wheels.
Next up for Brown on her European circuit is Triathlon Vitoria in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, where she will defend her title. Her goal is to beat her time last year of 9:51:01.
Brown is a Toronto native. She spent much of 2014 training in Cozumel, Mexico with Brett Sutton, and has been training with Belgian coach Jesse Van Nieuwenhuyse since she arrived in Europe 4 weeks ago.
